Flapotis!
I finished this scarf up on my DD's birthday and I love the finished product. I used up all seven balls of yarn, instead of leaving most of the last ball as leftovers. I hate yarn leftovers, especially at $15 a ball! I don't think I'll do that on the others I have in the queue, though. The finished scarf is about 90" long, and that's too much on me.
I think the pattern is lovely with the changing textures and the flaps. I have had nothing but compliments on it all day! I found it a rather tedious knit, though. By the time I got into a groove, it was time to bind off for the next flap.
The green color I used was not my first choice. I was looking for the light blue shown in the Mason Dixon book, but my LYS didn't have it. I got the green instead, and after I was able to fondle the yarn for a couple of days, I had to go back and buy yarn for three more (pink, deep burgundy, and blue). I haven't been able to work up the motivation to start on the others. I had thought I'd do some of it on my Christmas travels, but since the yarn balls are so huge with the cardboard core, they aren't travel-friendly, and I think rewinding the balls would be a mess. So, I'll travel with my new sock pattern and the lace weight version of the wimple.
