Christmas Yarn Shopping
I love shopping, and when it's for yarn, I love it even more! I went to A Likely Yarn in Abingdon, VA yesterday and picked up a few skeins of some local yarns. I got two natural skeins of wool from Grandview Farm in Abingdon. These are such wonderful, natural wools. The lanolin is still fresh and it smells so fabulous. They aren't super soft wools, but I am thinking they will make something wonderful.
I also got some sock yarn from Blue Ridge Yarns. Two 50g skeins of Highlight, a tencel/merino sock yarn in the colorway "Virginia Creeper" and a 100g skein of Bambie, a merino/bamboo sock yarn. It's in the colorway "Spanish Moss." I am looking forward to knitting with these beautiful yarns.
My splurge item was a skein of recycled silk yarn from Frabjous Fibers. It's stunningly dyed in deep jewel tones. I see a beautiful scarf in its future....If I had been traveling with my needle set, I'd already have started this up. While it isn't a local yarn for the area, it was so beautiful, I couldn't pass it up.
I haven't gotten nearly as much knitting done as I would have liked, but it has been wonderful to spend time with friends and family. I am somewhat bittersweet over our return home tomorrow. I am looking forward to being in my own surroundings, but also will miss being home.
