Ever have one of those summers?
It has been one of those summers. I haven't had time to sit down and work on much of anything. I've been traveling to White Sands Missile Range for my job, been shuttling kids from one class or event to another, and doing my best to spend an evening or two with my husband.
As you've probably noticed, be still & knit has been remarkably quiet this summer. I haven't sent out a newsletter in a couple of months, and I haven't really been blogging. I put out a pattern (see my last post) but I haven't been paying much attention to my knitting design or even projects. Those projects I have been working have been ones from my stash that I have been wanting to get finished.
So, this is the summer of finishing for me. All of those projects - along with their yarn, patterns, and notions - have been cluttering up my yarn studio and my brain. It is time to get them off the needles, off the hooks, and into my closet! I hope you're enjoying your summer, and I look forward to being able to finish your own projects.
A crafty diversion
Wow! I just ran across this little video. It is a very unique tribute to craftiness and knitting. Let me know what you think!
Tea and Knitting
I recently crossed paths with Melissa Barton. She is a business consultant and knitter in Portland, OR. Did I mention that my brother-in-law and his family lives there, too? Well anyway, I sent her off a preview copy of my Steel Toe Boot Socks pattern that I just released, and she was so kind to post a review of it on her blog. So, I invite you to go over and check out her blog. She does some amazing knitting, spinning, and business consulting. I appreciate her taking the time to look at my pattern and am looking forward to seeing her finished socks!
Single Loop Knitting in the Round
I just found this tutorial today, and it is changing the way I think about small diameter knitting. I totally hate the magic loop method because I hate managing both the loops of cable. This is a way to use a shorter length needle, yet still get the same effect. Go check it out!
Shifting Stitches: Tutorial: Single Loop instead of Magic Loop - for Knitting in the Round
One of the reasons I dislike magic loop is that it tends to kink my cables on my addis and I don't like the feel of it when I'm going back to work something larger. I really like to have a completely smooth cable. So, since once I do a magic loop project, I pretty much have to relegate that set of needles for magic loop. Course, it's always good to have a reason to increase my stash.
I am looking forward to trying this out. Once I do, I'll have to let you know how it goes.
See the Denver Knitters on the Yarn Harlot Blog
I joined about 300 other knitters to see Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (the Yarn Harlot) at the Tattered Cover bookstore in Highlands Ranch. It was a wonderful evening, and to top it off, Stephanie signed my copy of her latest book.
Check out her blog entry and read about the great knitters who were there. Plus, you can see me in her famous "traveling sock photos." I copied the photo here with an arrow to show my tiny head....
I'm on Entrepreneur Magazine's Blog!
I am so excited! I was featured on the Weekend Entrepreneur Magazine blog today!
Author Michelle Anton interviewed me and posted the story on her site. I am thrilled to be able to share my story with aspiring entrepreneurs.
Thanks to all my readers, students, and customers for all your support in making be still & knit a success.
I'd appreciate your taking the time to stop by the blog and add your comments about your experiences with me and be still & knit!
We all need one of these (or a half a dozen)...
I was browsing the web today and ran across this pattern for the cutest little crochet basket. She has been using them for diapers and baby things, which is an absolutely perfect thing! This may become my next baby shower gift idea. Please go check out her blog and enjoy crocheting!
